about

"Vespers" is a freewheeling road-tripper full of momentum, hope, and a deep longing for the west and its wide open spaces. Anthemic and spirited, the song is an invocation of freedom, growth, and expansion.

lyrics

I’ve been looking west, imagining the changes,
Replace the city with the sky.
Here the present moment is lost on me only
Replaced with a hundred reasons why.
I dream of peaks at the edge of the east
Their jagged edges spill the setting sun.
I’m off to the place, sunny days await
and the space when my spirit needs to run.

When I take my leave I’ll be riding high
in a dream state, following my fate.
In the bluest night I see my life
Moving westward, singing my vespers [these are my vespers]
Now I can be free.

I can feel the pull, wave-like and tidal
Still my every word is like a vow.
To be here and now, it’s far from forever
to wait until I’m up and out.
I’ll dream of trees at the edge of the east,
Their smell is in the wind upon the plains, [the smell of summer rain upon the plains]
I’ll make my way, the places remain
Spirit is what canned be contained oh no.

When I take my leave I’ll be riding high
in a dream state, following my fate.
In the bluest night I see my life
Moving westward, singing my vespers
Now I can be free.

[solo]

I dream of peaks at the edge of the east
Their jagged edges spill the setting sun.
I’m off to the place, sunny days await
and the space when my spirit needs to run.

When I take my leave I’ll be riding high
in a dream state, following my fate.
In the bluest night I see my life
In the bluest night I see this life
In the bluest night I see my life
Moving westward, singing my vespers
Now I can be free.
